California data center contractor snags more Valley industrial space

A California general contractor that’s heavily involved in building data centers in Arizona just signed a lease for two industrial buildings in Phoenix.
DPR Construction is taking over 322,000 square feet across two buildings at Papago Commerce Center, located off Interstate 10 and 47th Avenue.
The Silicon Valley-based firm ranked as Arizona’s 11th largest general contractor based on 2025 billings, according to Phoenix Business Journal research, with $569 million in billings across the state and $15 billion across the company.
The deal is an expansion for DPR, which currently leases another roughly 250,000 square-foot building next door under its subsidiary Digital Building Components, according to Don MacWilliam, vice chair at Colliers who represented the landlord in the deal.
The new space will be used for manufacturing and help DPR supply cooling panels to data centers under development across the Valley. It’s expected to create about 200 new jobs.
One local project DPR is working on is the buildout of Meta’s 2.5 million square-foot data center campus in Mesa, according to the firm’s website.
The move by DPR comes as numerous other companies that cater to data center developers are moving into Phoenix and snapping up industrial space.
• Nevada-based Dermody Properties is starting construction on two new buildings at LogistiCenter at Copperwing, located west of Phoenix in El Mirage.
Dermody is now developing buildings 3 and 4, which will span 693,760 square feet and 520,170 square feet, respectively. Construction is expected to wrap in the third quarter of next year.
The two speculative buildings are designed with the option to combine them into a single structure totaling over a million square feet, according to a statement from the developer.
LogistiCenter at Copperwing spans nearly 1000 acres and could fit up to 10 million square feet at buildout. It’s generally located near Peoria Avenue and El Mirage Road.
The industrial park has attracted several data center users so far. In June 2024, Microsoft paid $258 million for 283 acres in the park for two buildings totaling 750,000 square feet of space.
Compass Datacenters followed suit and paid nearly $80 million for 121 acres in the park for a project with three data center buildings.
• VanTrust is starting construction on a new 463,079 square-foot industrial building in Glendale.
It will be the third building at the developer’s VT101 industrial park, which spans 29 acres and is located across the Loop 101 freeway from State Farm Stadium.
