Denū Hotel & Spa open in downtown Phoenix; plus other Valley hotel news

Denū Hotel & Spa, the first downtown Phoenix hotel property with a full spa, has opened and is looking to bring more locals in.
The 236-room hotel, which is located in a 17-story building at 1 E. Adams Street in Phoenix, officially opened Sept. 21.
Because of its location, the hotel is marketing itself for business travelers, convention guests, attendees to sporting events and concerts and overall leisure travelers.
But with the Solstone Holistic Spa, which Denū hypes as “Phoenix’s first hammam-inspired spa sanctuary,” and the two restaurants – Sartén Kitchen & Bar and Nidos Rooftop Bar – the hotel also is hoping to attract local business as well.
“Our goal is to create a destination that feels equally relevant to travelers and the community around us,” said Linda Ding, Denū’s general manager.
The hotel is owned by a partnership that includes Pacific Hospitality Group, Berger Holdings, and JWG Investments, an affiliate of Sunbelt Holdings.
Mortenson was the general contractor for the project, with Gensler as the architect and the interior was designed by Wild Muse Interiors and Stylo Haus. The hotel has a curated art program by Kevin Barry Art Advisory and there are plans to add a mural by Baja California Sur-based artist Rodrigo Azanza, as well as an eight-foot exterior sculpture by Lalo Hibri.
“Phoenix is a dynamic and rapidly evolving city, and we saw an opportunity to create a hotel that responds to that energy while offering something restorative and intentional for both visitors and the local community,” said Garrett Busch, the president of Pacific Hospitality Group. “Our approach has always been to create distinctive properties that are closely connected to their destinations, and Denū is a strong expression of that philosophy.”
• Construction has started on a new Embassy Suites by Hilton in Avondale.
The project, which is being developed by Whitten Development, will include a six-story, 180-suite, full-service hotel. It will serve as a cornerstone of The BLVD, a rising mixed-use destination in Avondale.
