A national furniture retailer is set to open its first Phoenix-area stores starting in August.

Bob’s Discount Furniture, a Manchester, Connecticut-based chain, has plans to open four Valley locations as it makes its entrance into the Arizona market.

The furniture brand, which already has 129 stores across the U.S., has been expanding in Missouri, Ohio and Kentucky, and now Arizona.

Bob’s Discount Furniture will be moving into large big box stores that have been empty after other retailers closed.

For example, in Glendale Bob’s will be opening in a former Toys ‘R’ Us store at the Arrowhead Festival Shopping Center at 7430 W. Bell Road. And in Tempe at the Groves shopping center, Bob’s has taken over the former Mor Furniture for Less store at 1270 W. Elliot Road.

Two of the new locations are located at shopping centers ran by Vestar, a Phoenix-based shopping center owner and management company. Bob’s will be opening locations at Desert Ridge Marketplace in north Phoenix and at the Crossroads Towne Center on the border of Chandler and Gilbert.
