Oak Street Health Inc. said it will expand and likely lease facilities in Arizona next year.

The Chicago-based network of clinics for Medicare beneficiaries (NYSE: OSH) said it will begin operations in Phoenix and Tucson in 2022.

“As vaccination rates rise, restrictions lift, and loved ones across the country safely reunite, Oak Street Health is excited to look toward the future. We are proud to announce plans to enter Arizona in early 2022, and we look forward to introducing older adults in Phoenix and Tucson to a superior health care experience,” said Mike Pykosz, CEO, in a statement.

The clinics focus on treating adults over the age of 65, and their specialized health care needs. Arizona ranks 12 out of 50 in the percentage of residents aged 65 years or older, making Arizona an ideal location for expansion, the company said.

“We find Phoenix to be an attractive market similar to our other new markets such as Charlotte and Dallas,” Erica Frank, vice president of public relations for Oak Street Health said. “We are still assessing the number of centers we will open beginning next year.”
