A company that makes disposable disinfectant wipes, a hot commodity during the coronavirus pandemic, plans to return its manufacturing to greater Phoenix for the first time in a decade after leasing a building in Gilbert, Arizona.

GPMI Co. leased an 85,000-square-foot industrial building at 190 S. McQueen Road in Gilbert Spectrum, a 63-acre, mixed-use project developed by SunCap Property Group at Elliot and McQueen roads.

The company is based in Gilbert but has no manufacturing facilities in Phoenix.

About 200 employees are expected to work at the new $10 million GPMI facility, according to brokerage CBRE Group, which represented the company in the lease. The manufacturer expects to move into the building next February, according to CoStar.

GPMI makes disposable wipes for glass, leather and other cleaning wipes under the Four Peaks brand and under private labels. It has used a Wisconsin-based, third-party contractor to make its disposable wipes for the past decade, CBRE’s Mike Parker told CoStar News.

The company is increasing its local real estate presence to help address an increasing national shortage of disposable disinfectant wipes because of the pandemic, Parker said.

“They are eager to start production at this new facility, where production will be nonstop for years to come,” he added.

Motor sports equipment maker SDHQ and Pella Windows & Doors also occupy the 135,737-square-foot building, which was built last year on 8.8 acres. It has 32-foot clear heights, 40 truckwell doors, four grade-level doors and 190 parking spaces.
