High-profile Scottsdale Movie Theater Location to Close

The luxury iPic movie theater in Scottsdale will show its final film at the end of January.

The Boca Raton, Florida-based company’s theater, located at the Scottsdale Quarter shopping center, sent out an email to local members Tuesday informing them there are only a couple of weeks left to attend the theater.

Its last day in operation will be Jan. 30.

In 2019, iPic filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, but three months later in November, it was purchased by Retirement Systems of Alabama, which pays the pensions for retired teachers and other Alabama pensioners.

When it was purchased, iPic said it would not continue expanding. Now it said in a statement that, as part of its restructuring, the theater chain planned to close its Scottsdale location.
