Montana Buyer Acquires Gold Canyon Golf Resort, Plans Land Development

A Montana buyer has acquired the Gold Canyon Golf Resort and Spa in Gold Canyon for $29.43 million and plans to continue operating the golf courses and develop some of the developable land around the courses.

Marvin Klinker bought the golf resort and spa and some surrounding parcels, which total about 430 acres.

The property includes two championship golf courses, Sidewinder and Dinosaur Mountain, and shovel-ready sites for new development in the foothills of the Superstition Mountains. The Gold Canyon Golf Resort at 6100 S. Kings Ranch Road in Gold Canyon, about 40 miles east of downtown Phoenix.

“We’re very excited to be a part of it, and continue running the course and do some developing,” Klinker said.

Klinker plans to start the first phase of new development, a condominium project, within the next year. The site includes other developable parcels which will be undertaken later. Zoning for those parcels can include residential, commercial and hotel uses. Click through a gallery of photos at the site below:

Walter Unger, broker with West USA Realty’s commercial division brokered the transaction. The site has been on the market since February 2019.

Klinker owns farms in Montana, and recently sold a farm in Washington. He said he and his wife like to travel to Arizona and the resort is his first purchase in the state.
