A prominent Price, Utah-based manufacturer of integrated, custom engineered data center technology has chosen SkySong for its Arizona office.

IE Corporation (IE) has signed a lease for a 2,336-square-foot space in SkySong 2, the company’s first permanent office space in Arizona. The space is one of several ready-to-occupy spec suites at SkySong, offering companies accelerated speed to market.

IE is a leader in the engineering and manufacturing of data center technology including power distribution skids, generator enclosures, tanks and packaging, electric switchgear, packaging and integration and chilled water pump packages. Their current customers include various colocation and hyperscalers. IE has manufacturing and operation locations across the United States including Utah, Arizona, Colorado, Illinois and Ohio to provide nationwide support.

They recently purchased a modular data center and software company called Baselayer (https://baselayer.com/), which will be relocating to the SkySong office. Baselayer is a leader in the modular data center industry with ~200 megawatts of deployed capacity across three continents. Baselayer’s products are an ideal complement to IE’s existing portfolio and bolster IE’s presence in the Mission Critical industry. IE is bringing Baselayer into its Mission Critical business segment, supported and managed by Bobby Houston, IE’s Vice Chairman and head of the Mission Critical Business.

“We are pleased to relocate the Baselayer team to SkySong to join the ranks of other hi-tech and innovational companies. We look forward to a long and prosperous future at SkySong,” said Kindra Martone, VP of Data Center Strategy for Baselayer.

Sharon Harper, Chairman and CEO of Plaza Companies, the project’s master developer, welcomed IE and said they are an ideal fit at SkySong.

“IE Corporation is at the forefront of innovative data center technology engineering and manufacturing and they are exactly the type of company we welcome as part of SkySong,” Harper said. “We are excited to see what kind of impact they will have and are pleased that SkySong will be a home for them.”

“Issues surrounding cybersecurity are of critical importance, and continued advancements are essential for business, industry, government and academia,” said Sethuraman Panchanathan, executive vice president of Knowledge Enterprise and chief research and innovation officer at ASU. “It’s gratifying to have an industry leader like Intermountain Electronics locating in SkySong and expanding its presence in the Phoenix area.”

The Coppola Cheney Group of Lee & Associates, SkySong’s leasing broker represented the property ownership group. Intermountain Electronics was represented by Jason Moore of JLL in the transaction.

SkySong is a 42-acre mixed use development designed to:

– Create an ecology of collaboration and innovation among high-profile technology enterprises and related researchers;

– Advance global business objectives of on-site enterprises;

– Raise Arizona’s profile as a global center of innovation through co-location of ASU’s strategic global partners; and

– Create a unique regional economic and social asset.

Companies located at SkySong have the opportunity to partner with Arizona State University, which has more than 100,000 students studying across four metropolitan Phoenix campuses, in Lake Havasu City, Los Angeles, Washington D.C. ASU is one of the largest public universities in the nation, with the majority of its students attending its campus in Tempe, Arizona, less than three miles from SkySong.

In addition to locating its own innovative research units at the center, through ASU’s on-site operations, tenant companies have a single point of contact for introductions to researchers, faculty and programs to address their specific needs.
