ULI Arizona Event Explores What Drives Metro Growth

ULI Arizona is hosting an event that will examine what factors have led the Phoenix Metropolitan area to become one of the fastest growing economic centers in the nation and what factors will be crucial as the Valley moves forward. IMPACT Arizona: Past and Future Metropolitan Drivers will be held online from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on November 12. To register for the virtual event, go online to Arizona.ULI.org.

Visionary public, private, and civic leadership in Arizona has made an exponential impact on our metropolitan areas over the last two decades, re-orienting the region’s traditional real estate, retail, and business attraction economic drivers toward innovative public-private partnerships and advancing high levels of economic growth in research and development and science, technology, engineering, and math companies.

Now faced with the new challenges and opportunities of an international health pandemic, how will the Valley sustain this impact? The area must accelerate as a center for innovation, trade, and talent that creates sustained – not boom and bust – opportunities for its residents and businesses.

ULI Arizona’s next Main Program will bring together some of the most impactful changemakers to discuss their visions for Arizona, reflecting on the past and looking toward the future. Tom Murphy, Senior Resident Fellow, ULI Canizaro/Klingbeil Families Chair for Urban Development, and former mayor of Pittsburgh, will open the program with a keynote message and will share his experience in urban revitalization, what drives investment and what ensures long-lasting commitment.

The panel also includes:

• Dr. Diana Bowman, Professor of Law, Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law; Associate Dean for International Engagement, and the School for the Future of Innovation in Society, Arizona State University

• Steven Jo, Head of Talent Insights & Solutions, Silicon Valley Bank

• Neil Giuliano, President and CEO, Greater Phoenix Leadership
