With Tempe Off the Table, here’s Where Arizona Coyotes could Build Arena

With Tempe residents rejecting a multibillion entertainment district that would have created the new home of the Arizona Coyotes, questions on the NHL team’s future in Arizona are mounting.

The Coyotes had zeroed in on a 46-acre site on the northeast corner of Priest Drive and Rio Salado Parkway to develop the Tempe Entertainment District. Those 46 acres are currently being used as a city landfill. The Tempe Entertainment District would have been anchored by a 16,000-seat arena for the Coyotes, other elements of the mixed-use project included hotels, restaurants, offices and nearly 2,000 apartment units.

With that site off the table now, Coyotes CEO Xavier Gutierrez issued a statement election night that the franchise will be evaluated by team owners and the National Hockey League “over the coming weeks.”

Gutierrez has since said the team is looking at other options in Arizona. Should the Coyotes remain in Arizona and look at developing another arena for their next full-time home, here’s where they might look around the Phoenix metro:
