While the Axon “mixed-use campus” – featuring nearly 1,900 apartments – is at least a year from beginning, work on a smaller complex has started nearby.

Legacy Partners announced the start of construction on Olea Scottsdale, a 433-residence apartment community.

Sandwiched between Grayhawk and One Scottsdale in arguably Scottsdale’s fastest growing neighborhood, the project is a three-story, multi-family development on 18 acres at 19550 N. 76th St.

The apartments will be at the northwest corner of Legacy Boulevard and Miller Road, just across the Loop 101 from Axon in Scottsdale’s fastest growing neighborhood.

A plan approved at the beginning of 2024 called for 335 apartments and 108 townhomes.

The case – which does not require Scottsdale City Council approval because no rezoning is involved – received 6-1 approval by the Scottsdale Development Review Board Jan. 18, 2024.

Legacy says Olea Scottsdale “will consist of 325 garden-style homes and 108 townhomes.”

Thirty-eight total buildings are planned. Two dozen will be townhomes with 14 apartment buildings.

According to the developer, the apartment buildings border Legacy Boulevard and Miller Road with a 25-foot setback, “creating a buffer that protects the site and allows for desert plants to line the roadways.”

The townhomes along Miller Road are set back more than 75 feet, “allowing room for a dog park and protected outdoor amenity areas with views towards the McDowell Mountains.”

With a “phased delivery,” the townhomes will be completed in summer 2027 with the apartments following in the fall of 2027. KTGY is the architect for the project.

According to a press release, “Legacy has been developing in Arizona since the 1970s and views this project as a unique opportunity to capitalize on the region’s strong macroeconomics.”
