Potato Barn to build Valley distribution center near proposed concert venue Article originally posted on Phoenix Business Journal on July 14, 2025 Mesa-based Potato Barn Unique Home Furnishings has plans to build a new distribution warehouse in the East Valley near an existing store and the concert venue the company is developing. On July 15, Mesa’s Design Review Board will look at a proposed furniture warehouse and distribution center that would be built from the ground up on three acres at 7224 E. Seaver Ave. in Mesa, which is just north of Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport near the corner of Ray and Sossaman Roads. Potato Barn, which is owned by the Bongiorno family, owns the land and wants to build a 48,000-square-foot single story warehouse on the site. The proposed facility would consist mostly of an open-air floor plan and shell space for storage use, according to documents filed with the city. The warehouse will also contain a small showroom for customer retail showcase. The distribution facility completes the three-parcel Potato Barn complex, which will consist of the existing Potato Barn retail store, which opened in 2019, and The Nox, a 60,000-square-foot concert venue being developed on the same corner by the Bongiorno family. The Nox is expected to have a capacity of 2,000 attendees and could open by 2027. Adaptive Architects, the firm Potato Barn has brought in to design the warehouse, said in city documents that the warehouse was purposely designed to integrate with the existing Potato Barn retail store and with The Nox venue. “The existing entry drives and interconnecting parking lots provide for a complete on-site circulation system,” the proposal documents said. “A shaded canopy feature consisting of exposed beams, purlins and columns help to shade the entry and the building, while also adding to the overall architectural character that is unique to the Potato Barn development.” Renderings of the proposed warehouse show that it has a unique purple, green and orange color scheme. The proposal said the surrounding landscaping will have a “musical theme” to be consistent with the neighboring concert venue.
