Data science jobs surge 291% in Phoenix, leading office occupation growth

Office work across the nation is taking a turn toward technology, and the fastest-growing office occupations in the Phoenix metro show that trend is true of the Valley as well.

Those are among key findings in Yardi Kube’s Most Popular Office Occupations in the U.S. report, which ranked jobs’ popularity by their speed of growth between 2019 and 2024. In the Phoenix-Mesa-Chandler metro, occupations in data and mathematical sciences have been growing the fastest — jumping 291% from 820 employees in 2019 to 3,210 in 2024.

That’s the same field that grew the fastest in the Western region and nationwide, the report found, growing 551% on a national scale. The report said that underscored “the central role of data-driven decision-making in business, healthcare and government.”
