Multimillion-dollar renovations planned for Sanctuary Camelback Mountain Resort & Spa

Following an ownership and leadership change at the Sanctuary Camelback Mountain Resort & Spa in Paradise Valley, the popular resort is set to get a major renovation in the coming years.

The 110-room property, which is located at 700 E. McDonald Drive on 53 acres at the base of Camelback Mountain, announced on Monday it would start a multiyear, multiphase renovation plan that will touch every room, starting in the summer of 2027.

Some of the plans include interior refreshes and redesigns of its 110 guest rooms and casitas. That project will start next summer and is targeted to be finished in September 2027. In 2028, the resort will focus on elevated and enhancing its food and beverage outlets and the Sanctuary Spa. A specific price tag wasn’t given for the upgrades, but the resort said it would be a “multimillion-dollar property transformation.”

Sanctuary Camelback Mountain brought on design firm Hart+Howerton as the property’s architect and designer of record for the renovation. Hart+Howerton specialize in master planning, architecture, landscape architecture and interior design for prominent residential, resort and hospitality projects.

These upgrades come after the resort spent $7 million renovating its meeting facilities in 2025.

The moves at Sanctuary Camelback Mountain come after changes in ownership and management. Back in 2021, the resort was acquired for $85.34 million by a group of institutional investors including Scottsdale-based Berger Holdings, which is headed up by Darryl Berger.
