1st Seafood City in Arizona opens soon. Here’s when, what to expect

Seafood City, North America’s largest Filipino Asian supermarket, is opening its first location in Arizona soon.

The massive 66,000-square-foot grocery store in Chandler will open on Thursday, July 30, at 9 a.m., officials confirmed to The Arizona Republic.

It will feature a curated assortment of items from across the Philippines, Japan, Korea, China, Thailand, Vietnam and beyond, making Seafood City one of Arizona’s “most diverse market destinations.”

“For more than three decades, Seafood City has introduced generations of families across North America to Filipino cuisine,” according to a news release. “As it opens its first Arizona location, the brand is honored to share the richness of Asian flavors, bringing together one of the widest selections of Asian groceries, authentic dining experiences, and cultural traditions under one roof.”

What to expect at Seafood City Arizona

Seafood City Arizona, located at 3111 W. Chandler Blvd., Suite 04A in Chandler, will offer international grocery products from pantry staples and specialty sauces to fresh produce, snacks, beverages, frozen items and exclusive imports rarely found in traditional supermarkets. Produce will feature tropical fruits, Asian vegetables, fresh herbs and more, while the fresh meat department will have a wide selection of poultry, pork and beef staples, according to a news release.

Of course, the seafood department will be no joke, with one of the region’s largest selections of live lobster, crab, oysters, shrimp and fresh whole fish. Seafood will be flown in from Hawaii and sourced from renowned fishing regions across the world. Every seafood purchase will also include complimentary cleaning and gutting; customers may also have their fish fried in-store at no additional cost.

“Our goal has always been to bring people together through food and create a place where everyone feels welcome,” Matt Go, President of Seafood City, said in the news release. “Whether you’re searching for familiar favorites or discovering something completely new, your journey to experiencing Asian flavors starts here at Seafood City.”

Additionally, Seafood City Arizona will include a 10,947-square-foot food hall, the largest Filipino-Asian Food Hall in Arizona. There will be seating for more than 300 guests.

In the food hall will be Grill City, a Filipino BBQ that has sold over 35 million barbecue skewers across North America; a Slurp Alley for hot pots, noodle soups, steamed dim sum and slow-simmered broths; and a Bakers Avenue with freshly baked dinner rolls (pandesal), ube pastries, crinkles, cheese rolls buttery sweet brioche (ensaymada), cakes and more favorites. Other spots include Sizzle, Crispy Town, Yelo Yelo and Kakanin Korner.

Seafood City will also have a social hall, a dedicated event venue designed to bring people together. There will be surround sound, large-screen displays, karaoke and catering from the Food Hall. This space can be used for birthdays, family celebrations, corporate meetings, reunions, cultural events and community gatherings.

Grand opening plans for Seafood City

The grand opening will begin at 9 a.m. on Thursday, July 30.

Guests were encouraged to download the SFC+ App, Seafood City’s official rewards app, before the grand opening.

Members can receive exclusive promotions, earn SFC+ Points on qualifying purchases and redeem those points toward groceries, meals and participating services.

The grand opening will include exclusive opening-day offers, cultural performances, giveaways and special promotions throughout the day.
