Glendale’s hotel boom: New projects boost room inventory

Glendale’s future VAI resort has garnered lots of attention as the ambitious project faces ongoing delays, but it is far from the only hotel underway in the area.

Five other hotel projects are currently under development in the West Valley city that is home to State Farm Stadium, the recently renovated Desert Diamond Arena and two Desert Diamond Casino locations.

Within the next five years, the city is aiming to boost its inventory of hotel options to a total of about 5,000 rooms, including VAI’s planned 1,100 rooms. Glendale currently has about 1,900 hotel rooms.

At the same time, existing hotels are upping their games. The Renaissance Glendale Hotel and Spa, for one, has recently undergone multimillion dollar renovations.
