PHOENIX — HonorHealth, one of the largest nonprofit health care systems in Arizona, announced Tuesday that it has reached an agreement to acquire Evernorth Care Group.

Evernorth Care Group, which operates 18 metro Phoenix primary care clinics, currently serves as the medical practice division of Cigna HealthCare of Arizona.

HonorHealth already has over 200 primary, specialist and urgent care locations along with nine acute care hospitals. It will take over Evernorth Care Group’s clinics, which serve nearly 80,000 patients, after the deal closes.

“This acquisition enhances the services we offer and expands Valley residents’ access to care,” HonorHealth CEO Todd LaPorte said in a press release

Terms of the sale were not released. The acquisition is expected to be completed by January 2026.

“We remain deeply committed to quality care, and we’re dedicated to ensuring a smooth transition for both patients and our care team,” Matt Totterdale, president of Evernorth Care Group, said in the release.
