How Arizona’s apartment market measures up among cities nationally Article originally posted on Phoenix Business Journal on August 27, 2025 Apartment searches recently reached their seasonal peak for the summer, and Scottsdale stands out as the most attractive city in Arizona for renters. That’s according to RentCafe’s midyear renter engagement report, which looked at current and historic search volume and interest, as well as change in overall availability. RentCafe used that data to create what it calls a “REnT Score” — a renter engagement tool based on millions of website interactions. Scottsdale ranks No. 60 for REnT Score among the 150 largest U.S. cities included in the study, and is the only city in the Grand Canyon State to land in the top half of the rankings. Tucson was the only other Arizona city to rank in the top 100, ranking No. 97. Scottsdale saw its rental availability drop 1% year-over-year, and was one of only 34 cities included in the study to see availability decline. Scottsdale also saw page views on RentCafe drop 45% and favorites drop 13%, while saved searches increased by 3%.
