Peoria’s north side sees wave of retail projects amid residential growth

Peoria has more new retail and commercial projects underway in the north part of the city as residential growth in the area continues to drive demand for high-quality dining and shopping options.

One of the earlier commercial projects that has already seen success is the Trailhead, a 40-acre mixed-use development at 83rd Avenue and Happy Valley Road that will soon welcome a new Flower Child.

Here are some other new projects underway poised to bring new restaurant and shopping options to the West Valley city:

Vistancia Five North

The commercial core of the Vistancia master-planned community is starting to take shape with a new retail and dining hub project on tap.

Scottsdale-based Lyfe Companies is developing the first phase of a future neighborhood retail corridor at a 9.65-acre site.

Plans for Five North at Vistancia — the 320-acre commercial core of the over 7,000-acre master-planned community — have dramatically shifted in recent years. Though always envisioned as a mixed-use development with a commercial component, it was once planned to be home to Amkor’s $7 billion semiconductor packaging and testing facility plant, until that project moved over to Peoria’s Innovation Core.

Now healthcare facilities, light industrial and a new shopping and dining plaza are on tap.

Lyfe Companies, which is developing the retail component, is behind projects at other notable Valley neighborhood retail centers including Uptown Plaza in Phoenix and Epicenter in Gilbert, and has worked on restaurants like Buck & Rider, The Mission and Huss Brewing.
