TPQ Foods, the Phoenix-based restaurant group behind concepts such as Pa’La Wood-Fired Kitchen and Tortas Paquimé, is preparing to open two new restaurant concepts in the West Valley.

Later this spring, Magdaleña, a wood-fired dining concept will open in Goodyear. And in Glendale the company will open Paquimex, a Mexican restaurant that the TPQ Food’s founder, Omar Alvarez, said is the next evolution of his Tortas Paquimé restaurant.

“We’re always looking to grow in new ways by honoring the people and community that have built this with us,” Alvarez said in a statement. “Magdaleña and Paquimex are a reflection of that dedication. We’re excited to continue this journey together, bringing our love for great food and community to the West Valley.”

Magdaleña is set to open in late May. The restaurant will be located in Goodyear’s emerging GSQ district, which includes the city’s all-new city hall, library and two-acre community park, as wells as offices, hotel and multi-family developments.

The new restaurant’s menu is based around live-fire cooking with wood and charcoal. Magdaleña will include premium meats, fresh seafood and vegetable-forward dishes.

“Fire is the oldest form of cooking, and there’s something powerful about connecting every dish back to that source,” Jason Alford, the executive chef at Magdaleña, said in a statement.
