Sprouts HQ, hotel, apartments underway at north Phoenix development Article originally posted on AZ Central on February 19, 2026 When the Sprouts Farmers Market headquarters opens this summer, the CityNorth development at Loop 101 and 56th Street will be home to two of the state’s nine Fortune 500 companies. The roughly 100-acre development, led by Crown Realty Group, is also home to waste management company Republic Services’ headquarters, which opened in January, Rick Carpinelli, who leads Crown’s Phoenix operations, said. Republic Services built a 250,000-square-foot headquarters at CityNorth. The company is Arizona’s 80th largest private employer, according to Arizona Republic data, with about 2,270 people based in Arizona. Sprouts, the state’s 42nd largest employer, is under construction on a campus that will include both its corporate headquarters and a flagship store, which are both planned to open over the summer, Carpinelli said. The Sprouts project includes a 144,500-square-foot office building and a 25,000-square-foot grocery store. Two restaurants and an outdoor courtyard are also under construction next to Sprouts. Crown is in lease negotiations with restaurants to take the spaces, but the companies have not yet been announced, Carpinelli said. Restaurants in the development will likely complement Sprouts’ desire for healthy, fresh food, and the project could include a fitness component, he said. Two apartment complexes have opened in CityNorth. The first, 272-unit luxury apartment complex called Sunela, which was co-developed with Greystar, opened in 2024. The second, called Azur, also developed by Greystar, opened in January. So far, 620 apartment units are open at CityNorth. Carpinelli said another apartment complex will start construction this summer, and another the following summer. He expects that pattern to continue for the next eight years. In total, the site is planned for another 2,800 residential units, including apartments, for-sale condominium units and age-restricted housing, Carpinelli said. The site has zoning to allow buildings to reach up to 140 feet.
