What to know about the new hotel tower at Phoenix’s CityNorth

New corporate offices, restaurants and apartments are breathing life into Phoenix’s sprawling CityNorth development.

A new 240-room hotel tower will soon join the mix to welcome visitors and spur tourism in the area along the burgeoning Loop 101 corridor.

LaPour Partners and Holualoa Cos. — a commercial real estate developer and an investment firm, respectively — are behind the project, which got underway last summer.

When complete, the tower will feature the names of two notable hotel brands.

Here’s what we know so far about the project that its developers expect to have done by January 2027.

Where is the CityNorth hotel going, and what’s nearby?

The hotel is going up at the southwest corner of 56th Street and Deer Valley Drive.

It’ll neighbor Sprouts Farmers Market’s new headquarters and flagship store, both of which are expected to open this summer.

Which hotel chains are moving into CityNorth?

The project is a single eight-story hotel that will be dual-branded. That means it’ll be both an AC by Marriott and an Element by Westin.

What features will the Mariott and Westin hotels have?

There will be 240 rooms offered — 140 in the AC portion and 100 on the Element side.

There will also be 5,500 square feet of meeting and conference space. Hotel guests will also have access to an outdoor pool and a fitness center overlooking the pool area.

How does the hotel fit in with broader CityNorth plans?

The hotel is among a slate of new projects being built and planned within CityNorth’s 100-acre footprint that neighbors Desert Ridge Marketplace.

Construction of the master-planned community got underway in December 2021.
