The Valley is expected to have 26 hotel projects open before the end of the year, according to a report from New Hampshire-based hospitality industry research group Lodging Econometrics (LE). That accounts for 3,615 new hotel rooms being added to the regional market, per Lodging Econometrics’ Q2 2026 United States Construction Pipeline Trend Report. Phoenix beat out New York and Dallas with both of those cities forecasted to have 20 new projects, followed by California’s Inland Empire with 12 and Austin, Texas, with 11 new hotel openings in 2026. LE’s numbers from the end of the second quarter of 2026 were slightly scaled back from Phoenix’s forecasted new hotel opens at 27 and rooms at 3,640, which LE had projected after the end of the first quarter. LE’s forecast is in line with what CoStar, a separate real estate tracking company, forecasted Phoenix’s new hotel openings earlier this year. Looking ahead to 2027, the Valley’s hospitality market momentum is expected to continue. LE lists Phoenix as No. 3 on list of new hotel openings with 16 projects and 1,989 rooms, behind Dallas and Atlanta. Phoenix hotel boom finally shows signs of slowdown The Valley has added a significant number of new hotels in the past few years, but LE’s longer range forecast shows that this boom could be slowing down. In LE’s initial forecast for new hotel openings in 2028, Phoenix did not make the top five, meaning it will be opening fewer than 14 new projects, which is what St. Louis, Austin and Memphis are slated for that year.
