D.R. Horton scoops up 232 lots at Estrella in largest Goodyear deal in years Article originally posted on Phoenix Business Journal on September 10, 2026 The nation’s largest homebuilder just scooped up 232 more lots at Estrella master-planned community in Goodyear. Arlington, Texas-based D.R. Horton Inc. (NYSE: DHI) secured the lots through its land banker, Hearthstone, which paid $32.712 million in cash to Scottsdale-based Harvard Investments Inc., the developer of Estrella, according to Tempe-based real estate database Vizzda LLC. Closing on Sept. 3, this lot acquisition represents the last lots purchased within Lucero Village at Estrella, said Roger Theis, vice president of Harvard Investments. D.R. Horton will build single-story and two-story homes ranging between 1,300 and 2,400 square feet, Theis said. Model homes are expected to be ready by fall 2027. The only other time D.R. Horton bought lots at Estrella was in 2019 and 2020 when the homebuilder bought a total of 99 lots, according to RL Brown Housing Reports. At the time, the median sales price of a new home was $305,607, said Jim Daniel, president of RL Brown Housing Reports. “The addition of Lucero has been very good for the master plan,” said Daniel. Between January and July, homebuilders pulled 193 permits at Estrella, and 314 permits were pulled between August 2025 and July 2026, Daniel said. Over the last few years, it’s been unusual for a homebuilder to buy more than 200 lots at a time. Usually, homebuilders prefer to buy fewer than 100 lots at a time, Theis said. “But in certain submarkets where they feel confident, they will acquire more lots in a larger chunk,” Theis said. “We’ve seen that over the last couple of years from a few builders within Estrella.” Find Complete Article Here: https://www.bizjournals.com/phoenix/news/2026/09/10/dr-horton-buys-lots-estrella-goodyear.html
